「 bouncing away 9:51 PM 」

So, last Friday, December 9, 2011, I decided to try out Jillian Michaels' 30-Day Shred. I've been meaning to enroll in a bikram or ashtanga yoga class for the past few months. However, I lack the time and funds. Luckily, I came upon this dvd because of my amazon.com addiction. I read most of the reviews and decided to try it out. I would do anything to become fit again!

To be honest, I hate working out. It's painful, time-consuming, and I'm just too lazy to do it. I don't know what came to me and decided to commit to this. Read on below to see my progress.

Day One:

Day one was very intense. The workout looked easy. I watched it several times so that I could keep up with the pace once I start (I'm obsessive-compulsive that way). I was definitely wrong! It wasn't easy and nowhere near easy. I stopped after ten minutes of the video, rested for 5 minutes, then continued 'til the end with a number of stops in between. I was sweating and panting really hard after the workout. I thought I was going to die! The workout involves 3 minutes of cardio, 2 minutes strength training, and 1 minute abs. No rests. No stopping. I'm not an athlete and used to have asthma. You can just imagine how horrid I felt after the workout. I didn't use any weights for the strength training course because all I had were 4-lb dumbbells. I didn't want to shock my muscles. It's a good workout overall. I am hoping to increase my stamina soon.

Day Two:

I finished the workout this time but I only did half of the abs workouts. I used my 4-lb dumbbells on half of the strength training. I also did and extra five minutes of dynamic stretching before I began the video, and five minutes of static stretching after the video. I still have low stamina and would often get side stitches. So I stop for a few seconds and continue with the cardio. I believe I'm getting better, though!

I stopped for a day because my biceps started to hurt and I couldn't move my arms freely.

Day Three:

My arms still hurt after putting numerous pain relieving patches. I pushed myself to workout yesterday so that my muscles will get used to the routine. I'm so glad I did. My biceps don't hurt as much today. I can feel a slight tightness whenever I stretch my arms out but, thankfully, it doesn't hurt at all.

Since I stopped for a day, my stamina dropped. I often get side stitches but could easily recover after a few seconds of rest. I finished the workout again and feel that I'm getting stronger everyday. I was thinking of drinking creatine to increase my endurance before a workout. However, I'm not yet sure if it's safe. I have to do a research on that!

Healthy Lifestyle
I AM FAT! From 95 pounds, I'm probably up to 125-130 pounds now. The reason? Well, it's been a year since I've graduated and I lost all motivation to stay in good shape. I am about to open a restaurant and, in doing so, I've just been staying at home, cooking and eating and baking and eating! I just can't stop eating! I used to be very conscious about my physical appearance but, lately, I just didn't give a fuck. Long story short, I gained a lot and I don't feel good about it because I can't fit into 80% of my clothes. I don't want to buy new ones and waste the ones I currently have. It took courage to admit that I've gotten FAT! Sigh, I hate hearing that word. But I have to be honest with myself.

I absolutely don't hate my body, don't get me wrong. I simply believe that I can do better! I want to stay and live healthy. I always want to feel energized, instead of feeling sad and lazy to move around. In order to do this, I must change my diet and exercise!

The purpose of this post is to keep me motivated. I will update my blog after every workout and will probably post progress pics once I get to the non-shameful stage. :D

Anyway, to start my HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, I quit drinking alcoholic drinks. I'm not an alcoholic but I used to drink every weekend with my friends. It's not easy to hold back but I've managed not to drink during sessions with my buddies. Second, I cut back on carbonated drinks. I can't always avoid this because there are just some cases where there aren't any drinks available but softdrinks. I rarely get a taste of this fizzy sugary hell. I increased my water and juice intake, instead. Third, I introduced more vegetables in my diet. I've been eating salad with a little balsamic vinaigrette or roasted sesame dressing I make from scratch. Fourth, I eat very little rice or a piece of bread (which I also make from scratch) each meal. I eat less, basically. Fifth, I'm doing a 30-minute intense workout routine everyday. With hard work and dedication, I'll get fit in no time. Aja! :D
